We know some people are really allergic to peanuts and get really sick from them. But now there is a different type of problem with peanuts – some foods that contain peanut butter are contaminated with a bacteria called salmonella which can cause food poisoning. Salmonella has been found in quite a few foods. Some include Austin Quality foods Toasty Crackers with Peanut Butter, Meijer brand Cheese and Peanut Butter and Toasty Peanut Butter sandwich crackers, Peanut Butter and Jelly and Peanut Butter Cup ice cream, and Keebler Soft Batch Homestyle Peanut Butter Cookies. There are a lot more products that contain peanut butter that can make you sick.

So far, jars of peanut butter are OK. It's just food that has peanut butter in it. So for now, don't eat any foods that contain peanut butter. Hopefully, all the foods that can make you sick will be taken off the shelves soon. PB & J made from a jar of peanut butter seems OK.
