What is end stage renal disease?

The word renal refers to our kidneys. They are 2 bean shaped organs that filter blood and send the toxic waste out in the urine. When kidneys stop working, that is called end stage renal disease. The toxic material the kidneys normally filter out stays in the blood and makes the person sick. Fortunately, there are machines that can do the kidneys work. It's called renal dialysis.
